Eudora 5.x

Open Eudora. Open the "Persona" window-this should be on the left-hand side in the upper window. You may need to select the "Persona" tab at the bottom of the window. If you are unable to locate this, go to the menu bar at the top, click on "Tools", "Personalities". In the blank space in the "Persona" window, right-mouse click once. A sub-menu will appear, click on "New". The "New Account Wizard" will now appear.

    Account Settings
Select Create a brand new email account. Click on "Next."

This is where you can give a descriptive name to the email account, a good idea when trying to differentiate between accounts. For instance, "My work email," or "Judy's Mail", etc. Click on "Next."

    Your Name
Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the "From" field of your outgoing message. Click on "Next."

    Email Address
Type in the email address of this account. Click on "Next".

    Login Name
By default, the userid (login name) should appear hear automatically using the information you entered for your email address. If your email address is different than your userid (for example, an alias), make sure the userid is entered properly (do not use the alias here.) Click on "Next'.

    Incoming Email Server
Enter: mail.wyoming.com Select POP for the type of server. Click on "Next."

    Outgoing Email Server
Enter: mail.wyoming.com Put a check mark in Allow authentication. Click on "Next."
    Click on "Finish."

    Important note for Version 5.1:
By default, an SSL setting is turned on which will cause error messages. To fix, go to the "Persona" window, right-mouse click on the new mail account you just set up, then left-mouse click on "Properties." An "Account Settings" window will appear. Close to the bottom of this screen is "Secure Sockets when Sending", make sure Never is selected. Click on "Okay".

Sending a message with the Second Email account. To send a message with the appropriate account, right-mouse click on the account name in the "Persona" window, then click on "Message", then "New Message." Or you can setup a personality. Outlook Express 5.x - 6.0/ Windows Mail

There are two methods which can utilize a second email account. The first, and the simplest, add a new email account. However, when sending mail, the default account is utilized. So, if you wanted to send mail using the second email account, you will find the original email account is being used as the sending email address. To change this, you will need to go to "Tools", "Accounts". Click on the "Mail" tab. Highlight the mail account you want to send with, then click on "Set as Default." All incoming mail for both accounts will appear in the same "In" box.

The second method is to setup an Identity. An Identity is similar to a profile. When you want to check or send mail on the second account, you will need to switch to second mail accounts identity. This method keeps messages separated. By default, the first email account entered is the "Main" identity.

    To add a New Identity:
  • At the menu bar, click on "File", "Identities", "Manage Identities." By default, if an email account was already present, it will be assigned Main Identity. Click on "New."
  • Type in the name to describe the account, for instance: "Mom's mail." If you would like to password protect this identity, click on "Require a password." A screen will pop up requesting the password and a confirmation of the password. Enter in your password, then click on "OK."
  • Click on "OK." A message "Identity added" will appear. You will need to click "Yes" in order to setup the account.
    • Setting up Internet Mail. This section will be similar to the instructions for adding a single account. Click on "Create a new Internet mail account." Click on "Next."
    • Display name: Type your name as you would like it to appear on sent messages. Click on "Next."
    • Email Address: Type in your email address (e.g. userid@Wyoming.com).
    • Email Server Names: Select "POP3" for "My incoming mail server is a.
      Incoming mail server: mail.wyoming.com
      Outgoing mail server: mail.wyoming.com
    • Internet Mail Logon
    • Account name: enter the userid for the account.
    • Password: enter the password for the account.

Make sure to put a check mark in "Save password", unless you prefer to type in your password every time! Click "Next."
  • Congratulations! You are done! Click on "Finish." (If you get an "Import messages" screen, click on "Do not import at this time.") Click on "Next", then "Finish."

Under this new identity, only this account will be visible. To switch to the other account, click on "File", "Switch Identity", then select the other identity and you can start to use the other account.
